Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Physiotherapy at Home

MS is unpredictable by nature- symptoms can flare, settle, and shift focus from balance to fatigue to weakness and back again, sometimes within the same month. Physiotherapy for MS has to be flexible enough to move with you. I provide specialist MS physiotherapy at home across Maidstone, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding villages, for relapsing-remitting, primary progressive and secondary progressive MS.

My focus includes balance and coordination work, gait re-education, managing spasticity, falls prevention, strength and stamina work. Because MS symptoms genuinely change week to week, I keep sessions flexible rather than working from a fixed programme- some weeks are about pushing progress, others are about adapting around fatigue or a relapse.

MS fatigue is real, and it changes what “help” looks like – travelling to a clinic appointment can use up energy that would be far better spent on the session itself, or the rest of your day.

Frequently asked questions

Can physiotherapy help with MS fatigue, not just mobility?

Yes. While physiotherapy can’t remove MS fatigue, pacing strategies, graded activity and energy conservation techniques- alongside appropriate exercise – can help you get more out of the energy you do have.

I’m having a relapse – should I pause physiotherapy?

Not necessarily, but the focus usually shifts. We’d typically scale things back and focus on gentle movement, positioning and support rather than pushing progress until things settle.

Do you only see people with relapsing-remitting MS?

No – I work with relapsing-remitting, primary progressive and secondary progressive MS, tailoring rehabilitation to where you are and what matters most to you.
